What is the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you?
Virginia and the SnakesI could not breathe right the first time that I heard this story told. The more that I listened, the more excited and rambunctious I became. You rarely hear a more exciting story from your own family. Events like this one usually happen to other people that are not in your family. But it is a good story to tell. Allow me to tell you the story as it was when I first heard it told.
Virginia heard something taking place in the upstairs of her bathroom attic. She was in the bathroom where she was getting ready for her bath. She didn't think it was anything unusual at all to hear rustling noises in the attic over her head. So she first thought the sounds were nothing but something in the air flow pipes from the Furnace. She didn't think it was anything to worry about. She had been having some repairs done on her ceiling in the bathroom. Some parts of the ceiling boards weren't back in place yet. So she lay down inside the bathtub of hot water and just lay there. She was just enjoying herself and her special time alone immensely.
As she listened to the slight wiggly noises, happening quietly over her head, while she was taking a bath she wasn't really paying attention to them. She wasn't really worried about anything other than relaxing her head back and lying farther back in the bathtub. She had a full tub of nice hot soapy bubbles. And she was taking a little longer just enjoying her bath time. She heard some more faint sounds of rubbing noises over her head. As she listened to them, it sounded like little shaking and rubbing Sounds. But she couldn't quite comprehend what they were. She heard it again, then she listened, and then watched in absolute horror as a mouse; followed by a large black snake, fell from the ceiling over her bathtub right down into her bathtub of hot and soapy water.
As she was attempting to rise out of the bathtub, to get away from the mouse, and the snake, another huge black snake tumbled from the ceiling above her, right down into the bath water with her. Well I want you to know, ole Virginia gave out a mighty scream. " ah!-ah!- ah" "oh, Oh, oh!" She leaped out of that hot soapy bathtub of water, the mouse coming along right behind her. She grabbed her bathrobe really quick, and ran out of the door of the bathroom. "oh! Oh, Joe-" "Come quick Joe" "Joe, come quick" She was yelling and screaming for Joseph to came and help her. She was screaming hard for Joseph to come. By now though, the snakes had already flopped out of her bathtub water, and they were seeking for a safe refuge through the house. The mouse had also disappeared. The ouse was probably still shaking, from the hot bath it had received and virginia's hapless screaming., But I'll bet it was very thankful that it had gotten away from the two large black snakes which had been chasing the mouse. Virginia was doing so much screaming that you could hear her outside of the house.
Joseph, came running to her pleading cries and saying "Mom," "Mom," "What happened to you?" "What is it Mom" What's wrong with you." Virginia was still shaking from the episode of having two black snakes, and a mouse join her in her early morning bath time. She really wasn't very coherent at this time. She said "Joe," "Joe," "I was taking a Bath, and two black Snakes fell out of the ceiling, and a mouse fell into my bathtub with me." "I don't know where they went." "But I do want them out of my house right now." "Joseph said "O.K." " Where were they at now?" she said to Joe, "haven't you been listening." "They fell into the bathtub of water with me." "I don't know where they are now." "But they are here in this house somewhere." "Go and find them now!" "Do you have a shotgun?" "No, Mom I don't." "Well then," "call Ronnie Lynn, then" "Ronnie has a twenty-two Shotgun." So they called Ronnie Lynn, to bring his guns over and possibly shoot the snakes which were probably long gone by now.
Well, Ronnie Lynn came, and he listened sympathetically, while laughing at Virginia's misadventure (slyly though and to himself). He accidently shot some holes into her kitchen cabinets, while he was looking for the snakes. They looked for a long time for the snakes, and several times they thought they had seen one of them, but no they were long gone by now. But they never did actually find the snakes. As for the mouse, I bet he was somewhere living happily ever after. I mean after all, he did get away from the two snakes in an outrageously hot soapy water situation. I might also add that Virginia had the bathroom ceiling completed that week. She refused to take anymore baths until the new ceiling was completed. She did not want any rasher bathtub situations to arise. She really did not want any new and uninvited guests in her private bathroom. But if I was a large black snake, then I think I'd hunt my dinner somewhere else, and leave my poor Sister alone
